Unique Genre Entertainment
About
Quirk Films is a Montreal-based production company founded by award-winning filmmaker Maude Michaud that focuses on the production of unique genre entertainment that creatively uses genre tropes to address difficult topics and generate discussions around social issues.
Initially founded in 2012 to produce Maude Michaud's projects, the company has since expanded by working on collaborative projects with daring creators around the world. The company has produced over a dozen short film projects and a documentary webseries. Its feature film project Dys-/At the Door had its World Premiere at the prestigious Fantasia International Film Festival in 2014 where it also won the Audience Award for Best Canadian Film.
While its main focus remains on projects helmed by Maude Michaud, the company also seeks to elevate underrepresented voices by working with emerging creators. After working independently since its inception, Quirk Films received financial support from SODEC's Emerging Creators program in 2020 for the production of Mariel Sharp's short film Where the Witch Lives.
